Four-run inning leads Twins past Brewers — thanks to Carlos Correa again

Published Mon, 24 Feb 2025 00:08:24 GMT

The four-run inning the Twins put up on Wednesday was nowhere near as dramatic as their four-run inning against the Brewers a day earlier. But it got the job done just the same. The Twins concentrated all of their scoring in the third inning on Wednesday, overtaking the Brewers 4-2 in the two-game series finale at Target Field. One key commonality of those rallies? Carlos Correa, who hit a walk-off home run on Tuesday, delivered triple that caromed hard off the right-field wall, allowing a pair of runs to score to tie the score on Wednesday.Correa’s big hit was followed by a Trevor Larnach double off the wall to give the Twins a lead and a Joey Gallo pop fly that fell in behind second baseman Owen Miller, who had been racing back and seemed to lose the ball, perhaps in the hazy sky. Larnach scored on the play. The Twins only managed one more hit following that third inning, but that was enough run support for starting pitcher Bailey Ober and a collection of the Twins’ top bullpen arms....

Ohio House votes to mandate defibrillators in schools, sports venues after collapse of Bills' Hamlin

Published Mon, 24 Feb 2025 00:08:24 GMT

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Automatic external defibrillators, or AEDs, could be placed in nearly every school or sports and recreation venue in Ohio under a proposal that cleared the Republican-dominated House Wednesday with overwhelming bipartisan support. The legislation, sparked by the sudden cardiac arrest of Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin in January on the field during a football game in Cincinnati, would require that all public schools, municipally-owned sports and recreation locations such as gymnasiums and swimming pools, and some private schools have on-site AEDs. It cleared the chamber on an 84-6 vote.Current Ohio law allows school districts to require AEDs on site, but it's an elective decision that's left to individual districts.State Rep. Adam Bird of New Richmond, one of the bill's sponsors, said he's confident many districts already have AEDs, but making it a requirement can help further protect students. Under the bill, employees would be required to undergo special tra...

If you want to sit Jamal Murray at David Thompson’s table, the Skywalker’s more than happy to scoot over to make room.“I think his legend is still growing,” Thompson, arguably the greatest guard in Nuggets history, told me when I’d asked him recently about Murray, the first point guard to lead Denver to an NBA championship. “It’s coming.“Yeah, it’s coming. And he’s gonna be right there. (When) he’s healthy, he’s as good as anybody.”Game recognizes game.Nikola Jokic, basketball king of the world, was already dancing on Mount Olympus when the NBA playoffs started. The last eight weeks simply affirmed the Joker’s immortality, all while stuffing sweaty gym socks into the haters’ stammering pie holes. But with apologies to Aaron Gordon, Mr. Nugget, Man of the People, nobody’s star on the Nuggets roster has shot faster and brighter since mid-April than the Blue Arrow’s.Murray didn’t just shoot his way into the convo of best Nuggets guard ever.
